According to a medical specialist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Dr Martin Dutch, “the number of violent assaults had hugely increased in the past 30 months”.
Lindsay Bent of Ambulance Victoria said that “nearly all of the inner city Ambulance crews on Friday and Saturday nights were tied up with alcohol-related injuries”.
The majority of victims are young males, aged between sixteen and twenty-four-years, who are being harmed by other young males in violent attacks.
