The overall recorded crime rate across Victoria has increased by 7.8%. The total number of offences recorded up by 9.5% (up 35,300 offences to a total of 406,643 offences).
Crime against the person has increased by 11.2%. This is largely due to an increase in the rate of assaults, up 15.4%.
Crime against property has increased by 4%, mainly due to the rate of theft of motor vehicle (up 9%) and residential burglary (5.1%).
Drug offences have increased by 17.2%.
Other crimes such as justice procedure offences and behaviour in public offences have increased by 21.4%.
Family violence-related crime up by 39.7%.
