On the 09-10-17 just before 8.00 pm a twenty-five-year-old man was walking back towards his Toyota Hiace van in Rye when he was approached by a male offender armed with a knife. The offender stole the victim’s van and drove off with it. It is believed that the same offender only minutes earlier had attempted to carjack a vehicle with a nineteen-year-old woman inside on nearby Point Nepean Road. The offender is perceived to be Caucasian, around 183cm in height, stocky build, tanned complexion and dark hair and wearing jeans, runners and a dark-coloured hoodie.
