On the 05-11-17 at around 4.10pm a fifty-one-year-old woman was walking along the Gardiners Creek Trail in Burwood when she passed an unknown man walking in the opposite direction. The male then from behind forced her to the ground while punching and scratching at her face. Two bystanders who witnessed the attack came the victim’s rescue pushing the offender off her who then fled. The victim, who was from Box Hill South, sustained a fractured nose and serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital. The offender is perceived to be of Southern European appearance and about 188cm tall with short thick black hair and a muscular build and was wearing a blue t-shirt with light coloured pants and brown shoes. Whitehorse CIU detectives are investigating the serious assault.
