Western Australia Police have launched an Australian first website allowing victims of stealing and criminal damage to check the status of their police investigation as well as to provide further information to police online. The website will provide information to victims online as well as freeing up valuable police time.

In Western Australia last year there was over 100,000 reported stealing offences with around 16,000 hours of police time spent on entering these items onto the police incident management system.

During the 2012 – 2013 period only 15% of these crimes were solved with 85% of these crimes remaining unsolved and it is hoped that this website will improve these outcomes.

According to Western Australian police ‘the website forms part of the Frontline 2020 reform project which aims to achieve a more efficient and effective policing model’.

This police website is in line with the publicly available website: helpsolvemycrime.com.au.

The helpsolvemycrime website allows any member of the public to immediately report a crime, enlist the assistance of others to solve the crime and at the same time inform others in the hope of preventing further crime.
