Sexting is the creation and sharing of sexually explicit images via the internet and mobile phones.

Kids Helpline has called for children to be warned of the dangers of sexting as part of the school curriculum, including the impact such behaviour may have on their future aspirations.

The Victorian Parliament’s Law Reform committee is holding an inquiry into whether current legislation appropriately deals with sexting.

Victoria Police said that they do not support the creation of a new offence for sexting under state law.
