From September 2011 to 2012 there were more than 30,000 domestic assaults recorded in New South Wales with police figures indicating that 40% of all calls receive relate to domestic violence.

In response the New South Wales government is setting up a telephone hotline for men to gather information about why they commit domestic violence.

Evidence suggests that men often recognise that they have an anger management issue, or a drug or an alcohol problem that fuels their violence but do not know how to get help.
