On Sunday the 02-08-12 at around 3.00 am two police officers were arresting a drunk twenty-year-old male when he physically assaulted one police officer and attempted to flee. The assailant was pursued and apprehended with the injured police officer sustaining a broken nose and a broken cheek bone and was treated at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. The assailant was charged with intentionally causing serious injury as well as five other offences and was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court.
