On the 23rd May 2013 at around 11.00 am a female aged in her twenties was walking through a track at the Banyule Flats Reserve in Heidelberg when she was grabbed from behind. The assailant removed her top and used it to blindfold her before leading her into a forested part of the reserve. The male offender eventually released the female and then fled and the victim alerted a passerby who contacted the police. Police are appealing for public help into the sexual assault.
