Violent crimes in Victoria have doubled over the past ten years.
The previous state Labour Government went out of its way to avoid reporting these alarming figures and in doing so has allowed such crimes to significantly escalate.
The current state government has acknowledge that there is a serious crime problem in Victoria and appears to be doing a commendable job in attempting to address this problem.
One suggestion to combat this problem may be to place CCTV cameras in all public areas. This would firstly deter the likelihood of a crime occurring and secondly allow the crime to be far more effectively and efficiently dealt with through the criminal and legal processes.
