Recent findings suggest that there is under-reporting of assaults against young people including dating violence on adolescent girls. There is also a rise in gun-related crime and involvement of youth in hate crime.
Adolescents are still viewed by society as a major threat to others, though evidence suggests that they are at the highest risk of becoming victims of violent crime.
