On the 14-08-12 at around 5.30 pm an eighteen-year-old girl was lured by a male assailant outside a toilet block at the Edithvale beach who then proceeded to sexually assault her before slashing her several times with a knife. The victim was walking along the beach when the assailant pretended to be in distress and she went to his aid. The young girl was then threatened with a knife and sexually assaulted. The victim suffered knife wounds and was treated at the Monash Medical Centre. The assailant was aged between forty and fifty years and wearing a black jumper with the hoodie pulled over his head and who ran from the scene.
