On Saturday the 06-04-13 at around 3.00 am two off duty police officers were assaulted by members of the Bandidos motorcycle gang at a hotel on Hare Street in Echuca. Both police officers were injured and one taken to hospital with facial injuries. Local detectives are investigating the incident.

Also on the 06-04-13 two police officers were assaulted in Warragul and Traralgon as the result of drunken violence.

Mick West, Acting Superintendent, said that offenders will face ‘serious assault charges if they attack police or members of the community…and that police are not there to be punching bags of drunks’.
