In 2010 $1.6 Million was paid out in compensation to victims resulting from violence in schools with such anti-social behaving appearing to be on the increase.

Mary Bluett, Victoria Education Union President, has indicated that there is a need for more support in the areas of welfare and counselling to help address these issues.

Chris Cotching, President of the Principals Federation, said that school based violence was taking it’s toll on everyone concerned, including teachers.
