- Almost all primary victims of crime were awarded special financial assistance with the average amount being $3,141.00.
- The average amount of financial assistance awarded for loss of earnings was $5,258.00.
- Females made up 53% of applicants.
- Assault was accredited for 55% of applications.
- 34% of applicants were aged under 25 years and 31% were aged between 36 – 60 years.
- 64% of applications were finalised within 12 months of lodgement.
- 20% of all applications were struck out for unexplained reasons.
- Applications for assistance to VOCAT have been steadily increasing since 1997.
