1. A total of just over $55 Million in financial assistance was awarded to 4,891 victim of crime applicants.
  2. The average amount of financial assistance awarded per applicant was $8,564.00
  3. Almost all primary victims of crime were awarded special financial assistance with the average amount being $3,141.00.
  4. The average amount of financial assistance awarded for loss of earnings was $5,258.00.
  5. Females made up 53% of applicants.
  6. Assault was accredited for 55% of applications.
  7. 34% of applicants were aged under 25 years and 31% were aged between 36 – 60 years.
  8. 64% of applications were finalised within 12 months of lodgement.
  9. 20% of all applications were struck out for unexplained reasons.
  10. Applications for assistance to VOCAT have been steadily increasing since 1997.
