On Saturday the 20-10-12 at around 7.30 pm a seventy-four-year-old female was watching television at her Ballarat home when she went to investigate a noise and was confronted by a male assailant who grabbed her around her neck and demanded money. The elderly victim gave the assailant a small amount of money and he then fled.

On Sunday the 21-10-12 just after midnight a seventy-four-year-old male responded to a knock at his front door and was confronted by a male assailant wearing a balaclava with the elderly male telling him to leave. The assailant left and then returned about an hour later and forced his way into the Ballarat house and threatened the elderly male victim with a knife demanding cash. The assailant struck the elderly victim to the head with an iron bar before fleeing. The victim required hospital treatment.
