On Monday 22 August 2016 just before 7.00 pm a male offender came through the front door of the Hamlyn Heights home and confronted the sixty seven year old occupant. The offender threatened the elderly man with a knife before beating him around the head. During the attack the victim’s ninety three year old father ran from the house to get help from a neighbour. The offender stole money and credit cards before fleeing over the rear fence. The offender was described as aged 20-25 years, unshaven, of medium height and with dark coloured skin. Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for anyone with any information regarding the incident to contact them.
