On the 01-04-13 a male offender dressed in a pin striped suit held up two shops in Carlton North and Brunswick East. At around 2.45 pm he entered a bottle shop on Nicholson Street in Carlton North and after a brief chat with shop assistants he indicated that he had a gun and stole cash and alcohol. A short time later, at around 2.55 pm, the same assailant entered a newsagency also on Nicholson Street in East Brunswick and threatened the shop assistant with a knife before stealing cash and cigarettes. The offender is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, aged in his late twenties with a shaved head and olive complexion. Melbourne Embona Taskforce Detectives are investigating the robberies.
