On the 22-01-13 at around 10.30 pm a male in his twenties went to meet a female he believed he had befriended on Facebook. Upon arrival the victim was physically assaulted by four males, of Indian appearance and aged in their twenties and thirties, and who then abducted him and drove him to his home in Glenroy. The victim was then again assaulted and had mobile phones stolen. The victim was then driven to an ATM believed to be in Springvale and instructed to withdraw cash but he had no funds available. The victim was again assaulted and more demands for money were made. The victim was released about five hours later.
