On Saturday 17th January 2015 at around 12.40am two men aged in their thirties were walking along Elgin Street in Carlton and as they reached Lygon Street they were approached by a male and a female. The male then punched one of the men several times to his face causing him to fall to the ground striking his head on the footpath rendering him unconscious before fleeing. The victim was taken to hospital suffering life threatening injuries. The male offender was described as being Caucasian and aged in his twenties and the female also aged in her twenties and of Maori appearance. North Melbourne CIU police are investigating the assault.
