One on five children will be impacted on by child sexual assault. A recent study by the advocacy group Bravehearts evaluated how different states educate children about the risks of sexual assault, how different states empower adults to deal with the issue of child abuse and how different states protect the community from sexual predators. This study scored the states as follow:
Queensland – 76
NSW and Victoria – 75
Western Australia – 74
South Australia – 73)
Northern Territory – 72
Tasmania and the ACT – 69
While Queensland scored the best and Tasmania and the ACT the worse the aim of the research is to provide a platform for states to improve their own systems.
