In Malaysia some 5,554 crime prevention clubs have been established in schools throughout the country. According to the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) educating children on crime was the best way to prevent them from becoming victims of crime.

“Crime prevention is the best strategy to fight crime and what better way than to inculcate safety awareness among school children to better safeguard and prevent them from becoming victims of crime…. Using the old adage “Prevention is better than cure” to reflect the importance of proactively taking steps to keep crime at bay… addressing post effects was a case of “too little, too late…It is always better to remain vigilant and never take safety for granted as well as always be on the look out to prevent from becoming victims of crimes”.

A very interesting idea and a model that the Australian Government may wish to consider.
