In Victoria last year there were more than 50,000 domestic violence crimes reported to the police and over 60,000 are expected to be reported this year.

Domestic violence victims sought almost 9000 Intervention Orders last year.

Also last year more than 9600 people were charged with breaching domestic violence crime related orders.

Statistics of violent crime offenders revealed that about 50% of such offenders are geographically located within about 2% of the state, suggesting a high concentration of such offenders within a small number of suburbs. These suburbs include, Morwell, Moe, Broadmeadows and Sale.

Physical violence affects one in three women and sexual violence affects one in five women.

Last year over 50,000 calls were received by Domestic Violence Services in Victoria, and increase of 30%.
