The impacts of domestic violence for victims often include depression, post-traumatic stress, anxiety disorders and other stress-related syndromes.

Women who report domestic violence are more likely to experience mental illness with the risk of mental illness increasing  with multiple exposures to violence.

Women who are victims of violence are more likely to have alcohol problems, to smoke and to use drugs.

Children who are victims of domestic violence can also experience difficulties which include depression, post-traumatic stress and anxiety disorders as well as  emotional problems.
