Up to one million Australian workers already have access to some form of paid domestic violence leave.

Public Servants in Canberra may soon also have access to extra paid leave for domestic violence with unions currently negotiating with the ACT Government for up to twenty days extra leave.

One of the most supportive things that can be done for workers experiencing domestic violence is to maintain their attachment to the workplace.

John Hinchey, ACT Victims of Crime Commissioner, said that introducing the leave scheme will help empower victims to take control of their lives and reduce stigma.
