Gangs and trauma go hand in hand.
A young person is more at risk for getting involved in a gang if he has had prior traumatic experiences.
Once in a gang a young person is likely to have more life-changing traumatic events than peers who stay out of gangs.
We are seeing an emergence of gangs in Melbourne. Parents need to be far more responsible for their children. They need to know where they are and who they are with and what they are doing. Young people should not be left to their own devices.
