On the 12th March 2014 at around 12.40 am a female was walking from the Newport Railway Station along Williamstown Road when a male driving a small red motor vehicle performed a u-turn and slowly drove towards her. The male yelled out to the female but she ignored him and he then parked his vehicle and followed her on foot. The male subsequently caught up to the female victim near the intersection of Hanmer Street and Thompson Street in Williamstown where he indecently assaulted her being fleeing. The assailant is described as being Caucasian, aged in his twenties, of skinny build and olive complexion and wearing a grey ‘hoodie’. Footscray Sexual Offence and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are appealing for any information in respect to the incident.
