On Sunday the 02-09-12 at around 3.00 pm a forty-eight-year-old female was physically assaulted while donating items to a charity bin outside the Uniting Church in Heidelberg. The victim said that she was placing clothing, including a leather jacket, into the charity bin when a female, aged in her twenties and who appeared to be substance affected, asked her what she was doing. A male, possibly the female’s partner, then demanded she give him the jacket. The victim said that she continued to place the jacket into the charity bin and the female then punched her to the face causing her to fall to the ground and the assailant then jumped on her and continued punching her. The victim’s two daughters witnessed the incident with her eldest daughter coming to her aid before the assailants fled. The victim suffered bruising to her nose and head and reported concerns about going out in public.
