On the 15-10-12 just before 6.00 pm a police officer intercepted an adult male after he was speeding along the Mallee Highway in Northern Victoria. The male reported a positive breath test for alcohol and then refused to be compliant and proceeded to physically assault the police officer before fleeing in the police vehicle. The male was arrested a short time later and taken into custody. The police officer was treated at the Swan Hill Hospital for serious injuries and later released.
