There is a call to use satellite tracking devices in instances such as domestic violence to warn victims of any unwelcomed potential contact from the offender. With such a system if the offender is within a certain distance from the victim the GPS will set off an alarm warning the victim of the potential for danger and giving the victim the opportunity to contact the police. With violent crime on the rise, and in particular family violence, and our jails full alternate measures need to be considered to protect victims from further harm.
