Kim Wells, the Victoria Police Minister, is considering new legislation to combat road rage. Over the past year there has been a 42% increase in assaults linked to driving, with road violence offences hitting a five year high.

Mr Wells said that “this is a sad reflection on the community when someone feels the need to get out of their car to belt someone”. Mr Wells said that he plans to discuss this new legislation with Ken Lay, Police Chief Commissioner.
