On Saturday 30 June 2018 just after 2 am a forty-year-old Hastings man was on a scooter when he saw another man walking towards him. As the offender walked past the victim he struck him to the back of his head knocking him off the scooter and causing him to fall onto the footpath. The offender then picked up the scooter and used it to strike the victim several times before running away with the scooter. Police shortly after arrested a twenty-eight-year-old male from Crib Point.
