On the 1st September 2014 at around 9.00 pm two teenage girls, aged fifteen and sixteen years, were at a bus stop on The Lakes Boulevard in South Morang when they were approached by several unknown males. The males threatened the teenage girls with a weapon and assaulted them before stealing their mobile phones and fleeing. Investigating police said that this type of robbery is common and that people need to be wary, particularly about being in isolated locations at night, using their mobile phones.
