Recent research suggests that sexually abused boys are ten times more likely to contemplate suicide in adulthood, and that childhood abuse is a significant risk factor for suicide in men, which is three to four times more likely than in women.

Men also, as opposed to women, are less likely to talk about their feelings, subsequently making them more vulnerable. Men who have been abused in childhood should be recognized as early as posible and treatment encouraged in order to prevent suicide.
