On the 17-06-12 at around midnight two stolen motor vehicles pulled up beside a taxi in Sunshine and between four and six assailants wearing balaclavas and armed with baseball bats and golf clubs attacked the taxi and stole money from the taxi driver.

Within ninety minutes four more similar incidents occurred with a taxi driver in Laverton North sustaining a broken arm and another in the Sunshine North sustaining head injuries.

In May of this year a taxi driver was rammed in Maidstone and then physically assaulted with a saw and robbed by six assailants followed by several other similar incidents against taxi drivers in nearby suburbs.
