Trauma suffers sometimes turn to cutting themselves or other self-harm as a way to cope with their issues and while such behaviour may give the brief illusion of feeling better the pain soon returns without any permanent recovery.
For long-term recovery, you will need to learn how to recognize your feelings and how manage them:
1. Aim to recognize and understand your feelings which will put you in better control of them.
2. Don’t hold feelings in, express your emotions. Express them in words, activity or any other means you choose
3. Challenge you negative thoughts and counterbalance them with thinking positively.
4. Look at the big picture and take control of your life and start making more productive and healthier life choices.
