Assault – Port Melbourne

On Monday the 9th December 2013 just after 8.30pm a nineteen-year-old sex-worker was picked up by a male in St. Kilda . The male drove her to a multi-level car park in Port Melbourne where he produced a knife and punched her to the head and ripped out parts of her hair and was later treated at The Alfred Hospital. The assailant was described as being aged forty to fifty-years-old and of solid build and was driving a Hyundai Excel. South Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit Detectives are investigating the assault.

Only last December in California, and after multiple public hearings, did the Californian Victims Compensation Board revoke a ruling preventing sex-workers from receiving victim compensation. Californian advocates said that they hope that reform to victims’ compensation may finally be on the table.

Aggravated Burglary – Mulgrave

On the 09-12-13 at around 3.00 am a twenty-nine-year-old male assailant armed with a baseball bat broke into a Mulgrave residence and assaulted several victims. A Springvale man has been arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, recklessly causing injury and assault with a weapon and was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on in March 2014.

Aggravated Burglary – Burwood East

On Sunday 12-01-14 just before midnight a teenage male broke into a home in East Burwood. Nunawading police promptly attended and arrested a Glen Waverley boy at the front door of the property.

Armed Robbery – Melbourne Motels

On the 30-12-13 just before 7.00 pm an offender armed with a knife entered a motel on Mt Alexander Road in Essendon and stole cash.

On the 02-01-14 just before 5.00pm a similar offence occurred at a motel on Ardlie Street in Attwood.

Again on the 02-01-14 and just after 5.00pm a motel on Mahoney’s Road in Reservoir was victim to an armed robbery.

The offender was seen fleeing the Reservoir motel in a silver Ford Falcon utility being driven by a second male. The knife wielding offender was described as being of Pacific Islander or Maori in appearance, medium build and aged in his twenties.

Police detective from the Fawkner Embona Taskforce believe the same offenders may be responsible for all three armed robberies.

Violent Brawl between Rival Soccer Fans – Melbourne

On the 28nd December 2013 a violent brawl erupted between two gangs of rival soccer fans outside a licensed premises on Bourke Street in the Melbourne CBD. As a result of the incident three people were treated at the scene and one was treated in hospital with minor injuries. Police have since arrested four men; a forty-four-year-old man and a nineteen-year-old man from Kingsville, a nineteen-year-old man from Werribee and a thirty-two-year-old man from Norlane. Charges included affray, conduct endangering injury, conduct endangering serious injury and discharging of a missile.
