A former employee of the South Australian Attorney-General’s Department is being investigated for more than twenty counts of abuse of public office involving the misappropriation of more than $1 million from the Victims of Crime Compensation Fund. Six men have also been arrested over allegations of misappropriation of money from the South Australian Victims of Crime Compensation Fund between 2008 and 2012 with the former employee making fraudulent payouts to these six men, with some of the payouts exceeding $300,000, and used at least eight legal practitioners to finalise the claims.
