According to figures produced by the 2011 Australian Bureau of Statistics most violent crimes are committed either at a residential address, on the street or in a retail premise:
- 68% of homicides occur at a residential address.
- 62% of sexual assaults occur at a residential address.
- 42% and 26% of robberies occur in the street or at a retail premise respectively.
- 46% and 32% of abductions occur in the street or at a residential address respectively.
- 62% of aggravated robberies occur at a residential address.
