On the 31-05-13 at around 10.40 pm two men were walking along Adelaide Street in St Albans when they were approached by a group of men of African appearance who assaulted them and stole a slab of beer they were carrying. The two victims ran to their nearby residence and locked themselves inside. A short time later some fifteen and twenty assailants broke into the residence assaulting the eleven occupants with a pole and beer bottles before stealing cash and mobile phones. Four of the residents sustained physical injuries and were treated at hospital.
