On the 23-08-18 at around 9.50pm three males entered a restaurant on Lake Street in Caroline Springs armed with metal bars and a meat cleaver. The offenders smashed a number of items as they attempted to steal the cash register but fled empty-handed in a vehicle.
Some ten minutes later three males with bandanas covering their faces entered a bottle shop on Hume Drive in Sydenham armed with a meat cleaver. A staff member picked up a baseball bat and the offenders fled empty-handed in a vehicle.
Police a short time later arrested a 16-year-old Sydenham boy and an 18-year-old Melton South man at a Taylors Hill address who are both in custody assisting police with their enquiries. Police have also recovered a Honda sedan believed to be used during the two incidents.
