On the 04-09-18 at around 6.30pm a sixty-year-old Ringwood man attended the Ringwood Lake on Maroondah Highway searching for ‘pokemon’ on his mobile phone. He was soon approached by a group of four or five youths on the bridge demanding he hand over his personal belongings. The offenders then proceeded to assault the elderly victim, punching and kicking him before handing over his mobile phone and wallet. In an attempt to escape the victim jumped into the lake and swam to shore to get away from the group. The victim sustained facial injuries and was treated in hospital. The male offenders believed to be aged in their early 20s, fled the scene. Police are appealing for public assistance.
