Family incident related crime has increased by 288% since 2003.

Approximately 40% of assaults 25% of rapes are family violence related.

In 2011 – 2012 there were 16,047 physical assaults, 1229 sexual assaults and 483 rapes arising from family violence.

Ken Lay, Chief Commissioner, said that …’it is an unfortunate reflection of some attitudes in our community… and that the significant increase in reports shows just how large this issue is in the Victorian community’.
