On Sunday the 2nd June 2013 a female stabbed her female friend in a Wonthaggi unit following a fight over cigarettes after consuming a significant amount of alcohol. The victim was stabbed with a steak knife sustaining a forty centimetre deep stab wound to her chest and was treated at the Wonthaggi Hospital. The assailant has since been charged by police.
